1.表示方式或方法，通常是可数名词；表示条理或秩序，通常是不可数名词。如：

These methods apply to learning English. 这些方法适用于英语学习。

His idea is all right, but he lacks method. 他的思想不错，但缺乏条理。

2.表示做某事的方法，其后通常接 of doing sth。如：

What’s the best method of cooking beef? 烤牛肉的最好方法是什么?

What’s the best method of cooking beef? 烤牛肉的最好方法是什么?

He tried to change the normal methods of work. 他设法要改变通常的工作方法。

有时接 for doing sth，但不如接of doing sth 常见。如：

It is another method for resolving disputes. 那是解决争端的另一个办法。

偶尔也后接不定式，但远不如上面两种用法普通。

3.表示用某种方法，通常用介词 by。如：

The examination is conducted by the oral method. 考试以口试方式进行。

This is a reliable method of detecting cancer. 这是检测癌症的一种可靠方法。
