有趣的 if not, not用法分析

If not, not. 是一个很简洁的表达，也是一个很有趣的结构，但许多同学们并不知道它是意思，更不知道它是由什么结构转化来的。我们先来看下面一个句子：
If the ticket is free, I will go. If not, not.
这个句子是什么意思呢？句中的if not, not 该如何理解呢？其实这是一个省略句，如果将其补充完整，此句便是：
If the ticket is free, I will go. If the ticket is NOT free, I will NOT go. 如果票是免费的，我们就去；如果票不是免费的，我们就不去。
这个句子的特点是：前后两句的用词和句式完全相同，只是前面一句为肯定形式，而后面一句为否定，为了简洁起见，我们便将后面一句当中与前面一句相同部分进行省略，只保留否定词表示件的if和表示否定的not。又如：
If it is good, I’ll buy it. If not, not. 如果好，我就买；如果不好，我就不买。
If you go, I’ll go. If not, not. 如果你去，我就去；如果你不去，我就也不去。
If he loves me, I’ll marry him. If not, not. 如果他爱我，我就嫁给他；如果他不爱我，我就不会嫁给他。
If you come on time, you can go with him. If not, not. 你如果及时赶到，你就能同他一起去；如果你不能及时赶到，你就不能同他一起去。
If you study hard, you’ll succeed. If not, not. 你若努力，你就会成功；你若不努力，你就不会成功。
If you start at once, you’ll catch the train. If not, not. 你若马上动身，你就会赶上火车；你若不马上动身，你就赶不上火车了。
请看以下单独使用的 if not：
I might see you tomorrow. If not, then it’ll be Saturday. 我可能明天去看你。如果不是明天，那就在周六。
I’ll go if you’re going. If not, I’ll stay at home. 你去我就去。不然的话，我就呆在家里。
另外，请联系相关表达 if so（如果是那样的话）：
He may be busy. If so, I’ll call later. If not, can I see him now? 他可能忙，如是这样，我以后再来拜访。他如不忙，我现在可以见他吗?
Will you be staying another night? If so, we can give you a better room. If not, could you be out of your room by 12:00? 您要再呆一晚上吗? 如果是这样，我们可以给您提供条件再好一点儿的房间。如果不是，您能在12点离开这房间吗?
